Shelter
(A few years ago I was commissioned to write a song for the Southern Forests Arts Project, which is an awesome initiative full of great ideas of bringing together art and nature in the forests of south-west of Western Australia, specifically in Northcliffe. I travelled down there and spent an unexpected week of exploring the forests and trying to get my car fixed enough to drive me back home. During that time, I wrote this song. Here is the text the way I initially wrote it —- it’s changed since then … )
There’s a storm brewing
I can feel it
There’s a storm brewing
And I wonder can I move
To change it
And I wonder if this edge
Is where I live now
- for now -
I’ve come to you for shelter
I’ve come to you for shelter
I’ve come to you for shelter
And I wonder if this edge
Is where I live now
- for now -
And I wonder will I move
To change it
There’s a storm brewing
I can feel it
There’s a storm brewing
